Where Culture Gets a Wicked Twist

Where Culture Gets a Wicked Twist

Women are returning to the kitchen, making everything from bubblegum to cheese, all while looking incredibly hot

Ah, the glamorous life of the stay-at-home parent. It’s the job that never ends, right? You’re not just working from home; you’re living at work. Whether it’s herding the little ones, maintaining that Pinterest-perfect garden, whipping up Instagram-worthy meals, or battling the endless sea of dirty dishes, there’s always something on your to-do list.

But let’s be real: this isn’t a new phenomenon. The original queens of the domestic hustle were the 1950s housewives. These ladies didn’t just run their households—they practically invented the concept of “doing it all” before it became a hashtag.

So, grab your pearls, and let’s hop in our time machine to take a peek at what a day in their impeccably polished shoes looked like…

I don’t know about you, but I need a nap just thinking about all that! The idea of juggling all those tasks while rocking a string of pearls—like, actually wearing pearls—is both impressive and exhausting.

Sure, there’s definitely some nostalgia-induced glamorization of these retro housewives. It’s easy to look back with our rose-colored, future-proofed glasses and see them as the epitome of domestic perfection. But let’s not forget: that was the societal standard back then. Fast forward a few decades, and things have definitely gotten more, well, relaxed.

These days, when you think of a modern housewife or stay-at-home mom, your mind probably conjures up images of pure, beautiful chaos. Picture this: a living room covered in toys, a robotic vacuum waging war against pet hair, kids zombified by their iPads, and dinner courtesy of DoorDash while an Instacart haul sits half-unpacked on the counter. Despite all our fancy gadgets, the stay-at-home life is as demanding as ever.

But hold up—there’s a new trend making waves on social media that’s about to have us all tightening our apron strings, literally and figuratively.

Meet Nara Smith. This model-turned-housewife has taken TikTok by storm, amassing a staggering 9 million followers and teaching us all a thing or two about what it really means to be the ultimate homemaker.

Nara’s culinary creations make those old-school Jell-O molds look like child’s play. But she’s not just cooking—oh no. Nara is out here making everything from scratch, from mozzarella to cornflakes. And you can trust that nothing with a hint of Red Dye 40 is coming anywhere near her pristine countertops.

Here’s just a taste (pun totally intended) of Nara’s jaw-dropping, mouth-watering creations:

next time I’d use more corn flour instead of corn meal and try to get it even thinner! The kids didn’t care though 🫶🏽 #easyrecipes #homecooking #breakfast #cereal #fypツ #toddlersoftiktok #cornflakes

Nara’s creations are nothing short of amazing, but let’s be real—making nearly everything in your pantry from scratch is hardly realistic for the average person. I mean, who has the time? Naturally, the internet being the internet, there’s been no shortage of hilarious parodies poking fun at Nara’s commitment to DIY-ing every single ingredient out there…

But of course, Nara’s talents aren’t confined to the kitchen. Because why stop there? Cue another hilarious spoof: Nara casually building an entire swimming pool just because her kids happened to mention wanting to swim. Talk about taking “DIY” to a whole new level…

Honestly, who wouldn’t want a Nara Smith in their life? Imagine feasting on high-quality, home-cooked meals like hers every single day. Talk about living the dream, right?

But hold on—Nara isn’t the only social media maven making waves with this trend. Enter Hannah Neeleman, the former NYC dancer who’s taken the internet by storm with a whopping 9.8 million Instagram followers.

While Nara’s busy whipping up culinary masterpieces, Hannah is taking it to a whole new level by literally sourcing every ingredient from her own farm. Yes, you heard that right. Neeleman swapped her ballerina shoes for a farming hoe when she left Juilliard and married Daniel Neeleman, son of JetBlue founder David Neeleman.

On her aptly named “Ballerina Farm,” Hannah grows her own fruits and veggies and even makes dairy products from cows and sheep she milks herself. She’s not just a stay-at-home mom—she’s running a full-blown homestead and a business, all while raising her family.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of her incredible creations and life on the farm:

How this woman manages to juggle all of that while being an entrepreneur with eight kids is beyond me. Maybe there’s some secret superpower hidden in those farm-fresh eggs that’s giving Hannah a little extra boost.

Whatever it is that’s fueling these two powerhouse women, one thing’s clear: they’re inspiring a whole lot of people to get back in the kitchen and start flexing their cooking muscles.

But will these internet trendsetters really take us back to the societal standards of the 1950s? Well, only time will tell…

Till next time, be wickedly wonderful…

I’m a single man, and I make cheese at home; parmesan, gouda, havarti, pepper jack, cheddar, Swiss, edam, Monterey Jack…

Women should be in the kitchen rattling pots and pans getting their men’s meals ready after a hard day at work!
And yes, by all means, be dressed nicely with hair and nails neatly brushed and manicured!

Don’t know about Nara’s case, but in Hannah’s case, marrying up a billionaire certainly makes things much easier.

Being a child of the 50’s I can tell you it wasn’t exactly like that video for most women. Most of them didn’t have a lot of leisure time, seriuosly.
